Why this site exists
One page instead of ten tabs
Plan a week in Lapland and you end up with ten tabs open. Hotels on one site, husky tours on another, the aurora forecast on a third, and no idea what the taxi from the airport costs until the meter is running.
Most guides to Lapland are written by visitors who spent four days here. We live here, so these pages say what a visitor cannot know: how long the road to Levi takes in February, which week the snow is usually reliable, why a reindeer will not move for your car.
How it is organised
By town, then by what you need
Start with a town. Rovaniemi, Levi, Saariselkä, Inari, Ruka, Ylläs, Pyhä-Luosto and Kilpisjärvi each have a guide: what to see, where to eat, when to come and how to get there.
Places to stay are listed by town and by kind, from glass igloos to log cabins. Tours are listed by kind, from husky safaris to ice floating. The aurora forecast is live for all eight towns, and the trip planner puts your flights, beds, tours and rides on one page.
Who runs it
Written in Rovaniemi

Lapland Story is written by Syed Rupom, who lives in Rovaniemi. He has spent years running travel businesses, tubandspahotels.com among them, has stayed in hotels in 34 countries, and has travelled every corner of Lapland in every season.
Places do not pay to be listed here, and no hotel or tour can buy a higher spot. The order you see comes from guest ratings, review counts and price.
How we write
What you can trust on these pages
No invented details. We do not guess addresses, opening hours or map pins. If we are not sure where something is, we leave it out; a wrong pin is worse than none.
Prices you can check. Every place to stay shows the price Booking.com gave us for one reference stay in winter, for two adults, and the day we looked is stated under the list. Prices move daily, so use them to compare, and see the price for your own dates on Booking.com. Tour prices are the "from" price the booking site showed on the day we looked. The taxi fare is the one price worked out live, from the address you type.
Live numbers are live. The aurora forecast and the weather come straight from NOAA and MET Norway and refresh every few minutes. Guest scores come from the booking sites the places are listed on.
Photos show the place they name. A photo only carries a place's name when it really is that place.

How we earn
Where the money comes from
Some links on this site go to partners: places to stay, tours and activities, flights, car hire, travel insurance and phone data. When you book through one of those links, the partner may pay us a commission. It never changes the price you pay, and it never decides what we recommend.
If a place ever pays to be featured, its card will say Sponsored, plainly. Today nothing on the site is sponsored.
The airport taxi is our own service: our car, at the meter tariff, with the fare shown before you book. The shop sells our own designs, printed and posted by Spreadshirt.

How to reach us
Email info.laplandstory@gmail.com. We read everything and reply as soon as we can.
To book a ride, use the booking panel on the taxi page or on any destination page: it prices the trip, takes the details and books the car in one go.
